Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is the world's leading medical humanitarian aid organisation. We work in over 70 countries - in conflict zones, natural disasters and epidemics. We are independent, neutral and impartial. We provide medical care where it's needed most.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We've supported MSF as our major charity for over ten years, by a regular monthly donation. In all that time they've never pestered us for more money, just kept us up to date with what they were doing with a simple, but frequently heart-rending newsletter.

We like it that they concentrate on their work rather than fund-raising, that they don't play politics or take sides and that they just get in there, often in the middle of conflict or disaster, while the politicians are still posturing for their electorates.

We wanted to do a bit more to publicise the work of MSF and invite our friends to make a small donation for two main reasons.

Firstly, MSF now seem to be filling in where governments are falling short, the fight against Ebola and setting up rescue services in the Mediterranean for the desperate refugees risking boat crossings (http://www.msf.org.uk/country-region/search-and-rescue-in-the-mediterranean-sea) are examples.

Secondly, MSF staff providing humanitarian help in conflict zones are being targeted, injured and killed, even by states claiming to respect international law, as recent hospital bombings like this one (http://www.msf.org/en/topics/kunduz-hospital-airstrike) demonstrate.

Despite this, MSF, as always, are seeing a need and getting on with it and we're proud to do just a little bit to help.
