Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am running the Liverpool 5K Santa Dash to raise funds for the Walking with Giants Foundation. The Foundation was founded by the parents of a young boy called Alex Connerty from Liverpool. Alex was born in April 2005 and was initially diagnosed with Majewski Osteodysplastic Primordial Dwarfism Type II (MOPDII) in May 2006. Due to the lack of information; and being advised by local doctors that Alex was thought to be the only child with the disorder here in the UK; his parents, Sue and John Connerty, set out on a journey that would change their lives positively forever and in January 2008 they set up the Walking with Giants Foundation. The Foundation helps individuals who have been diagnosed with Primordial Dwarfism and their families to come together and share information and experiences. In 2014, Alex Connerty was re-diagnosed with a subtype of MPD called Traipe after doctors, through the Walking with Giants charity, began in-depth research on different types of Primordial Dwarfism.
Sue Connerty was the winner of the Michael W Halsall Solicitors Woman of the Year 2018 and I was privileged to hear her story and witness her passion for Walking with Giants and to watch her win the much deserved award. Having then had the pleasure to attend the 2018 Walking with Giants Convention in Liverpool I once again saw the hard work and dedication of all those involved with the Foundation and knew if I could assist in any way then I would do so.
Anyone who knows me will testify that I am not a runner but in just 4 short weeks I will attempt to run the Liverpool 5K Santa Dash in an effort to raise as much money as possible for Walking with Giants. Any donation would be gratefully received.
