Story
At 4,167m high, Mount Toubkal, also know as Jebel Toubkal, is North
Africa’s highest peak. Set in the High Atlas Mountain range in Morocco, The critical thing to consider when climbing Mount Toubkal is the altitude, with roughly 40% less oxygen than at sea level. I feel this is the perfect challenge for my Keratoconus. having completed an Arctic expedition it is now time for the opposite end of the temperature scale with a mountain that borders the Sahara desert.
As a former soldier with The Queen's Royal Hussars i have visited many hot places, however not since being diagnosed with Keratoconus, I even struggle in the heat of the british weather so Africa will be a testing challenge for me.
As a charity ambassador for Fight for Sight it was an obvious choice of charity for me, as with the Arctic expedition I will be raising much needed funds and awareness for this wonderful and pioneering charity but also linking in and raising awareness with the Keratoconus specific groups both here in the UK and Abroad.
