Story
GBS is the UK's most common cause of life-threatening infection in newborn babies and of meningitis in babies under age 3 months. In the UK, at least-two babies a day develop a group B Strep infection -one baby a week dies from their GBS infection, and-one baby a week survives with long-term disabilities – physical, mental or both.Yet most group B Strep infections are preventable.
As many of you know Grayson was born at 35 weeks with GBS meningitis, we were incredibly lucky that with Grayson’s strength and fighting power he overcame this deadly infection. Surviving through a very unique case and complications of GBS and a brain injury, he still lives with the after effects of this preventable infection every day.
You can read more on Grayson’s story here: https://gbss.org.uk/latest-news/guest-blog-from-irwin-mitchell/
Myself and Grayson will be walking/running 45k (A mile a day) throughout July to raise awareness of GBS, a life threatening infection which every expectant mother should be tested for like many other countries do. Please donate as much or as little as you can to help spread the word and also sign the petition below:
