On Thursday, 15 September*, Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) fan favourites Rob Austin and Dan Welch will give full rein to their inner adrenaline junkies by doing something even more awe-inspiring than usual – jumping out of an aeroplane to raise vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Well accustomed to white-knuckle rides at speeds of up to 160mph in the no-holds-barred BTCC, ahead of the ninth outing of the 2016 season at Silverstone on 17/18 September, the intrepid duo will take to the skies above Hinton-in-the-Hedges Airfield for a different kind of thrill before returning to the racetrack at Silverstone two days later.
Their aim is to raise £3,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support, the official charity partner of BTCC title sponsor Dunlop. Macmillan offers information, practical advice and support to those diagnosed with cancer and their loved ones before, during and beyond the treatment phase.
There are some 2.5 million people in the UK currently living with cancer, and that figure is set to rise to an alarming four million by 2030, making the work that Macmillan Cancer Support does absolutely essential.
If you’d like to support Rob and Dan in their high-flying fundraising drive, you know what to do, and if you’re in the area, don’t miss the chance to go and watch them racing at Silverstone on Saturday (17 September) or Sunday (18 September), where you can ask them all about their sky-high experience...
