Story
Francesca and Andy have done something rash and signed up for the London Landmarks Half Marathon on Sunday 7th April - so need to get match fit in just 10 weeks.
We’re asking for some ££s to help us raise money for the Barons Court Project.
Here are a few reasons to sponsor us:
- The charity do amazing work to support vulnerable people, often with mental health issues, who are at risk of homelessness.
- They are the only day centre in West London doing this - truly a lifeline for people in London.
- The number of people who are sleeping on the streets has risen. We know times are tough at the moment, but for some people it’s really really sh*t.
- Some of Francesca’s best friends have been homeless, and do not recommend it.
- Well, support for mental health is a drum we can bang all day.
- As you know Francesca struggles with fuelling, and will need to up her game. So if nothing else, show her you’re rooting for that bigger breakfast.
- We’ll have to sacrifice wine Fridays for Saturday long runs!
Please pop a few quid in the pot. It would mean the world.
Barons Court Project is the only service of its type in the borough of Hammersmith and Fulham that offers direct access specifically to people who are street homeless and have a mental illness. We receive referrals from GPs, community psychiatric nurses, social workers and hostel keyworkers. Our services include Drop-In's, Life-Skills workshops, 1-1 advice and subsidised meals, showers and laundry. We aim to build service users self-esteem, confidence, hope and prevent them from suffering the effects of isolation and loneliness.
