We wish to raise awareness and as much funds as possible for Oesophageal Cancer research in memory of Alan Howell.
Team Howell's fund raising began with the 500mile cycle challenge from Barcelona to Nice which was completed in the summer of 2014. Alan supported the event and was at the finish line to celebrate the fundraising.
Alan wished for further fundraising for research into this disease.
In early 2014 Alan made the following comments:
"In January 2014 I was a fit and healthy 59 yr old enjoying family life and work. However with one mouthful of my dinner my life changed. I had difficulty swallowing a piece of meat and this happened again in February. I went to the doctors and was diagnosed with a Cancer of the Oesophagus. This is a cancer which is developing but is rarely detected until it is too late as the only symptom appears to be swallowing when the tumour gets to a certain size. The survival rate is low and time typically below 12 months without treatment. This is very low so much more research needs to be done to improve detection and eventually the survival rate. I would like, in conjunction with my family, friends and the Cancer Research Trust attempt to raise funds to assist in this research. It would be great if people could support this cause with a donation, however large or small. Many thanks for your support, Alan Howell.
We would like to thank you in advance for any donations, and welcome any further fund raising ideas you might have.
