Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm part of the support team for the Sage Cycle Community's annual ride for Cancer Research - this year from Purley to Alpe d'Hurez. Whilst I'm not a cyclist and my method of transport will be 4 wheels and not 2, I hope you will dig deep and donate to Cancer Research.

On the 6th of June there will be a group of 30+ cyclists setting off from Purley in the South East of England and over the next 6 days facing a gruelling cycle ride to Paris and then onto the summit of the Alpe d'Hurez. Their journey will cover over 750 miles and include stenuous days in the saddle and challenging rides.

Whilst not a cyclist myself I have volunteered along with 2 of the Datalinx Directors to be part of the backup support team accompanying the cyclists and enabling them to focus on completing their journey (and hopefully without any misadventures on the way).

The Alpe d'Hurez is situated in the Rhone-Alpes and is one of the most famous of the mountain climbs on the Tour de France. Starting from Bourg d'Oisans, the Alpe d'Hurez ascent is 8 miles long and the riders will climb over 3000 feet with an average gradient of 8%. As the finishing point of this journey it will truely test the riders and their stamina.

Thank you for supporting them and Cancer Research.
