Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Me, my husband Angus and sister Shona have decided to run the Inverness Half Marathon in March 2013 in aid of Parkinson's UK a cause very close to all our hearts.

Over 15 years ago my father Charlie 'Barley' Macleod was diagnosed with early onset Parkinson's and he was only in his late 40's. He continued to live a full and very active life until 2 years ago when he had hip replacement operation which resulted in him contracting an infection.

The past 2 years have been spent mainly in hospital and following a number of procedures his Parkinson's has deteriorated very quickly. He is now back home (at the moment at least) but his mobility is significantly reduced.

My sister and I had chatted many times about taking on a challenge to raise money for Parkinson's research as they are making good progress in developing treatment for these people just being diagnosed now. Lots of people raise funding for cancer research and of course it's a very worthy cause but less well conditions such as Parkinson's also require funding for their very important research.

Well those of you who know us will know Angus and I are certainly not built for running and although Shona runs often she has only ever done a 10k so this seemed like a great challenge for us all and would get us training over the dark winter months,
