Story
I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes two years ago, around the same time that my Mum and Dad were diagnosed with Type 2 as well.
We were all quite shocked as all three of us eat healthily and are quite slender. I always associated Diabetes with poor health and obesity, which I now realise is not always the case.
Diabetes is a life threatening illness, if it is not treated properly and is on the increase massively.
I am not on medication as my diabetes is controlled through diet and exercise. I have made adjustments to my diet, and now run three times a week, including a park run, which is run in my town every Saturday morning.
I enjoy running and have entered the Bath Half Marathon next March, which I am currently training for and enjoying very much.
I not only want to raise money for Diabetes UK and help with this wonderful charity, but to want raise awareness about Diabetes to other people.
I am also running for my parents as well, who have Type 2 and feel that I want to help them, like they have helped me all my life.
