Paris Marathon 2012 · 15 April 2012 ·

Wessex Cancer Support provides free and local emotional support to anyone affected by cancer in Hampshire, Dorset and the Isle of Wight. Clients may have cancer themselves, be adjusting to life after cancer, supporting someone with cancer or be bereaved. We rely on donations to provide this support.

Story

Having arrived here you already know that we are stupid enough to be running the Paris marathon! That’s 26 miles and when you consider the combined total of our competitive races up until now is 6 miles, it’s quite a challenge. We’ve been putting in the miles and doing the training and so now it’s your part. We’re raising money for a small local charity - Jane Scarth House (via Wessex Cancer Trust), in Romsey. Our dad was a marathon runner and 16 years ago he died from cancer leaving mum to care for six children (and our little brother hadn’t had his first birthday). We’re running this marathon in memory of him. Jane Scarth offers a walk in service for anyone affected by cancer and helped us out when we needed it most. Now it’s time for us to give something back.

Now for your bit - instead of having a few drinks, or buying a CD; donate what you can spare to this excellent cause so that people less fortunate than you can benefit. For a small charity, the money will make a huge difference. Go on, you know it makes sense!

Thanks so much, Dale, Jordi & Ryan!!
