Battle of the UBSCs · 26 March 2021
This Easter marks the beginning of the BATTLE OF THE UBSC’s. Join your team to help solve the age old question of which UBSC rules Bristol….
UBSC (Bristol Snowsports) and UBSC (Bristol Sailing Club) are collaborating in the name of charity to bring our members together to get active and ready for the end of lockdown restrictions!
We have decided to raise money for Caring in Bristol. Caring in Bristol is an amazing charity based in Bristol with the aim of tackling homelessness in the city. Youth homelessness has risen sharply amidst Covid-19, with the charity Centrepoint – who support young people aged 16- 24 who are facing homelessness – seeing a 36% increase in people seeking help since the beginning of the pandemic. As a result, Caring in Bristol are setting up the only Youth Shelter in the city, we believe it’s a more than worthwhile cause for our donations to go towards. They also run a number of other projects such as Bristol Nightstop, The Common and 365 Shelter. For more information about the charity, please follow the link: https://caringinbristol.co.uk/
The challenge: As a collective team, you must Run, Walk or Cycle a total of 3882 km (2412 miles), the distance from Bristol to Les Deux Alpes (L2A), and then onto Split, Croatia. Each society has to run 3 marathons a day to complete the challenge in 30 days. The journey represents the distance to the locations for both UBSC (Snowsports) Summer Training Trip and UBSC Summer Sail Week!
DATES: This challenge will begin on Friday 26th March and last until Monday April 26th.
Donations, big or small, will make a huge difference!
