Story

Hi everyone, I'm Bea! Welcome to my official fundraising page.

I am a 15 year old girl with a condition called Cerebral Palsy, living in Camberwell, London. I have Cerebral Palsy because I was born too early at 31 weeks. This affects my posture, my balance and makes my muscles very stiff. When I try to walk my legs seize up because of the spasticity in them. I can crawl and kneel independently and walk with a walker for short distances though this is very tiring. I asked for a treadmill for Christmas and can do 20 minutes on it, slowly. Recently I have managed to stand unaided for short periods. Sometimes I can stand for 10 seconds which is a massive achievement for me !

My Long Road to Freedom starts on the 13th March in the USA.

I am flying to St Louis in Missouri where I will undergo a procedure called SDR.This operation will help stop my legs from being stiff as cerebral palsy has made them for the past 15 years. It will make everything easier for me and I will be really happy at the end! But it will make me very weak to begin with and 2 years of physiotherapy will be required to get me strong again.

The whole thing will add up to about  £85,000 so I am trying to help raise some of it. The surgeons say I will be able to get about everywhere afterwards using just crutches !! and will only need my wheelchair for long distances.

It would be fantastic if you are able to support me and Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
