Story

This site is aiming to raise awareness and money for Beating Bowel Cancer in memory of James Smither, who passed away this year at the age of 33.

James was diagnosed with bowel cancer in January and sadly lost his short but fierce battle on 16 March. A kind, friendly and funny person was taken away far too early.

In honour of James, an unsightly group of unfit individuals will tackle the Lyke Wake Walk, a 43 mile trek (in one day) across the North York Moors. We will do this whilst attempting to maintain a sense of humour. This has changed from the originally planned Three Peaks and Just Giving can't change the event at the top of the page, so apols for any confusion.

By hurting ourselves in the name of charity, we are very grateful for your contribution but would also appreciate you taking 5 mins to read a little about bowel cancer. The below link is good:

http://www.beatingbowelcancer.org/understanding-bowel-cancer

You will read that awareness of symptoms and active escalation are the key to early identification and successful treatment.

If we succeed in getting a few people to know more than they knew previously about the disease, we will have made a difference. If we can get a few people to learn AND give some cash, now that is success!

Beating Bowel Cancer is a charity which played a big part in supporting James and his family. We think they should be helped to support others too. Please dig deep and thank you so much.
