Cheltenham's Half Marathon 2017 · 1 October 2017 ·

Little Hearts Matter is a national charity offering support and information to anyone affected by the devastating diagnosis of a single ventricle heart condition, children born with half a working heart. We work to support and raise awareness of the needs of these children and their families.

Story

On the 1st October 2017 - myself, my brother Daniel and my 2 cousins Francesca and Stephanie will be running the Cheltenham Half Marathon in memory of Poppy Niamh Kavanagh.

Poppy is the beautiful daughter of one of my best friends Sean and his girlfriend Lauren.

Poppy was born on Wednesday 24th May and sadly passed away on Tuesday 13th June - She was only 20 days old and as you can see from the picture above, Poppy is by far one the most cutest babies you have ever seen.

Poppy was diagnosed with Hypoplastic left heart syndrome, a very sad condition which meant the left side of her heart hadn't developed properly so technically she only had half a functioning heart.

We are raising money for "Little Hearts Matter" who are a national charity offering support and information to anyone affected by this condition.

From initial diagnosis, through treatments and into life at home, the charity works with children, young adults and families to reduce the isolation, fear and lack of understanding created when a child is diagnosed as having half a working heart.

Please help us raise as much money as possible so Little Hearts Matter can support future families who have to experience this life threatening condition.

RIP Poppy - you will never be forgotten, from Manchester to Stoke to Cannock to Birmingham to Derby to Gloucester to Reading and to London, you will be remembered all over the country !!!
