I will play in a 5-a-side football match with my sons football team!

5 a side charity football match · 19 June 2021
On the 24th December I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer! I was left feeling numb, no way could this be happening to me….I have a child at home that needs me. I didn’t really hear much of what the consultant said after that but I did hear him mention that I would need chemotherapy & the treatment plan would take a year from start to finish. I walked out of there lifeless, I didn’t want to come home, I definitely didn’t want Christmas….I didn’t know what I was going to do. With the support of my amazing family & friends I got through Christmas & the 2 weeks I had to wait for my next appointment but I was definitely in the darkest place I’ve ever been in. At the beginning of January at my next appointment we discussed my treatment plan, my consultant confirmed I would have surgery at the end of January to remove the tumour & surrounding tissue & then 6 rounds of chemotherapy that would start at the end of February & then to finish I would need 2/3 weeks of daily radiotherapy. So to date I have successfully had the tumour & surrounding tissue removed, along with 3 lymph nodes to check for any cancerous cells & was assured none had been found. I’m recovering well from surgery but still restricted on some movement & I have had 4 rounds of chemotherapy so far & coping well 💖💪🏼
So on Saturday 19th June 2021….I will be playing in a “fun” 5-a-side football match with my sons team who are 7 & under….it doesn’t matter what the score is at the end of the game but I will need to score at least 1 goal 😬⚽️ I will still be undergoing treatment at the time of the match which will be taking place just 9 days after my last round of chemotherapy which I think adds to the challenge for me 💪🏼🙌🏼
Why have I chosen a football match & not jumping out of a plane?! When I thought about doing something for charity it had to be something that involved my son Clark! He is being my absolute rock throughout all this….he absolutely loves his football, we are forever joking about me not being able to play or even kick a ball! It will definitely be something fun for us to do together & he’s very excited 💖⚽️💙
