JOHN O'GROATS TO LANDS END SPONSORED CYCLE RIDE

Sometimes we forget how lucky we are.........

In September I am going to drag my rheumatoid old bones and cycle the entire length of the country to raise money for 2 charities that are very very close to my heart. I am going to try to raise as much money as possible to say thank you to two organisations that helped me through my two darkest days.

MACMILLAN CANCER SUPPORT

In November 2009 my gorgeous nephew Sam was diagnosed with a kidney tumour. As I stood in the hospital as my sister told me, the world appeared to stop still. Gradually as the news sunk in a whirlwind began. We were inundated with information from consultants and doctors about Sam's treatment. Just when you thought you'd never cope along came the Macmillan nurses. They reexplained everything and helped our family work out how to try and carry on a normal life. Home visits to flush his catheters, visits to his school to explain his treatment, and coaching Sam to lie still for his radiotherapy. They were a team of angels making sure "nobody should face cancer alone".

MIDLANDS AIR AMBULANCE

In January 2011, Charlotte Cole, a good friend and member of the team at Claire Dyson Racing fell from her horse on the gallops. She suffered serious head injuries and sadly passed away in hospital 2 days later. As Charlotte bravely fought for her life down on the gallops, I can remember the sound of the helicopter blades as the angels from the sky arrived. The air ambulance team worked so hard to save her, and whisked her off to hospital where she got to spend a precious few days with her family. Their hard work also meant that Charlotte was able to donate some of her organs and make her family proud by helping to save others.

What never fails to amaze me is that these two organisations which so many people rely on in a crisis are 100% funded by charitable donations. So please dig deep and help me raise as much money as possible to say thank you to these unsung angels.

So please dig deep and donate now.
