Story
Hi everyone,
As some of you may know, this year I'm taking part in a triathlon competition to raise funds for Athol House. Just so that you know, I'm only doing the 15k cycling part of the competition as I'm part of a team of 3 people. My team mates will be doing the running and the swwimming as I'm not getting any younger! :)
My fundrasing target is £2,100 which I will donate in full to the residents of Athol House which is a residential home that belongs to the charity Leonard Cheshire Disability. Athol House is a home for 21 adults with physical and learning disabilities and sensory impairments. Most of the people who live in Athol House are on a very tight budget as some of them only receive the £21 per week that the government sets out for their personal allowance, This means that some of the Athol House residents only get £21 per week for their personal expenses (i.e. toilettries, clothes, going out, etc).
I'm aiming to raise £100 for each resident which they will be able to use as they wish (i.e. buying something for themselves, going out on a day trip or whatever they want to do with the money).
I worked in Athol House for 4 years and in that time I got to know the residents pretty well. They tought me a lot about courage, patience, tolerance, and hope and so I would like to give them something back in appreciation for everything they tought me.
I know £2,100 sounds a like a lot of money but if you can donate something, however small, we might be able to reach the target together. I reckon that if every person who sees this page donates a couple of pounds we might get there...every little helps! :)
Also if you are free on Sunday 19th August from 11am, please come to cheer me at Tri-Together which will be held at the Crystal Palace Sports Centre in London. I am definitely going to need your support...believe me! :)
On behalf of the 21 residents of Athol House thank you for your support. Your contribution will help towards making their life a little easier.
