Wear Red Day at Bellefield School · 19 October 2021
Wear Red Day is a national day of action which encourages schools, businesses & individuals to wear red and donate £1 to help facilitate the delivery of anti-racism education for young people & adults throughout England, Scotland & Wales.
Wear Red Day will be celebrated nationally on Friday 22nd October, but as we are on half term then we will be wearing red on Tuesday 19th October. We would really love the children to dress up in any red clothes they already have at home. This could be as simple as wearing a red t-shirt or head to toe in red - we encourage the children to be as imaginative as they can!
We are asking children for a voluntary donation of £1 each for this dress up day. Every penny raised during WRD enables the campaign to work with more young people and adults across the UK to challenge racism in society. All the money raised will go to the charity running this day, ‘Show Racism the Red Card.’
We hope you join us this Wear Red Day to add your support to the cause and your voice to the choir.
Show Racism The Red Card is an anti-racism educational charity. We aim to combat racism through enabling role models, who are predominately but not exclusively footballers, to present an anti-racist message to young people and others. Show Racism The Red Card acknowledges that racism changes, as do the experiences of Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities in the UK. Our message and activities therefore need to be able to respond to such changes as and when appropriate.
