Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am raising money for the charity Wizz Kidz to help support the fantastic work they do in giving disabled children the freedom, mobility and independence we often take for granted.
A few years ago, I built, and learned to ride a reverse steering bicycle. This is a largely pointless thing that goes left when you steer right and goes right when you steer left. It is incredibly difficult to ride, completely counter intuitive and very few people can travel more than 1 or 2 metres without putting their feet down or falling off. For those of you who have never seen one before, I have made a short video of a few work colleagues and friends giving it a go here:

Other than providing amusement at school fairs and summer fetes, I
wondered if any good could come of this new skill I had learnt and after a little research I found that there was in fact, no World Record for riding a reverse steering bicycle. So, after a little negotiation with the good people at Guinness World Records we agreed that travelling at least 6 kilometres in 1 hour would be a good enough benchmark to set a new World Record.
The good that comes of this is that in the process, I would like to raise as much money as possible for the charity Whizz-Kidz. Whizz-Kidz is a fantastic charity that provides disabled children and young people with vital mobility equipment, opportunities to meet and have fun, and training to help them gain skills and look forward to a bright future. They work in partnership with the NHS to deliver wheelchair services and their work gives disabled children the confidence to go out and enjoy life to the full.
Please give generously to help these children get out and do the things we often take for granted. It’s a WORLD RECORD, and these are children that need wheelchairs.
£1000 could pay for 1 adapted trike. Many disabled children are not able to ride bikes due to physical impairments or restricted movement or co-ordination. Whizz Kidz provides adapted trikes which give children a safe and fun way to exercise and strengthen their muscles, plus the chance to develop friendships and build their confidence.
