London Marathon 2023 · 23 April 2023 ·

We’re the 10 million people living with arthritis in the UK. The carers, researchers and healthcare professionals. The family, friends and fundraisers. United by a clear vision: a future free from arthritis. One in which no one is limited by the pain, fatigue and isolation that arthritis can cause.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My good friend Martin suffers from rheumatoid arthritis and it has affected his life in a profound way. Rheumatoid arthritis is managed by suppressing the immune system to stop it attacking the joints. A suppressed immune system has meant Martin (like many others) has spent the last three years carefully shielding from Covid – isolated from friends and loved ones. On top of this, complications from this disease have meant Martin has spent years in and out of hospital with severe kidney problems, painful vasculitis and recently suffered a mild stroke. This dreadful disease needs to be beaten so that people like Martin can life a full and happy life.

Martin inspires me and others around him with his campaigning work to help other immunocompromised people in the UK. I want to run the marathon for Martin and for others in his position. Millions of people wake up with arthritis every morning and face the day in pain, without the support and recognition they deserve. Arthritis attacks what it means to live and people like Martin are often left to manage alone.

By sponsoring me, you're helping Versus Arthritis to invest in breakthrough treatments, the best information and vital support for everyone affected by arthritis. Please sponsor me so that together we can overcome the pain, isolation and fatigue of arthritis.
