Story

Mount Everest Base Camp

In memory of Steven Wright.

On the 9th November** 2022, I plan to fly out to Nepal 🇳🇵 to trek to Everest base camp.

Everest Base Camp can be found at 5380 metres, on the world’s tallest mountain which measures 8848 metres. Although it’s not the summit, this is still well-known and well-respected mountain trek.

Technically, this could be viewed as not overly difficult to complete, however I do not yet know how my body will react to the altitude at this height so I will need to prepare mentally and physically for this adventure.

As some of you maybe aware Steven lost his very short battle with bowel cancer on 5th June, he was an absolute warrior and extremely proud man until the very end!

Steven - Ste, leaves behind his beautiful family Melissa, Lottie 11 and Finley 8.

I asked Melissa, Nancy and Tony, Ste’s parents, if I could do this walk in memory of Ste, to raise awareness of bowel cancer in our generation and to hopefully raise some much needed funds towards Alice House Hospice in Hartlepool where Ste received his final care.

Ste was an absolute gentleman, a role model to most other men in my eyes. A fantastic husband, father, son, brother and hardworking engineer. He lived for his family ❤️

Personally I cannot comprehend the loss that the whole family must be feeling and having kids of the same age, absolutely breaks my heart in two 💔

My plan is to take some of Ste’s ashes to base camp and scatter some of them to the highest area of the world. A place where he can have the highest and the best view over all of his loved ones.

I would love to be able to raise money as a thanks from Melissa, Lottie and Finley to Alice House for taking great care of Ste on his final journey.

You’ll never walk alone !
