Story
Last February on a gloomy winter’s morning, 25 brave souls from Duff & Phelps Manchester tentatively stepped out of the warmth of their vehicles to face the biting cold winds of Snowdonia. Their goal was simple: to ascend the highest mountain in Wales, stand atop this proud nation of sheep lovers, and proudly declare “we did it.”
Snowdon truly beaten, the same team (plus a couple of usurpers from the London office) sought a fresh challenge that would bring them to once again face the elements and harsh beauty of the wilderness. Disappointment that all the Everest tickets were sold out was quickly replaced by excitement when it was suggested that Ben Nevis could be mounted. The girls in the office did some research and discovered (wrongly) that the aforementioned mountain stands at a mighty 2,300m. It does however stand at 1,300m; being north of the wall and dangerously close to the local savages, this will once again be no walk in the park.
But the hard work and determination serves a greater purpose than providing an ego boost for its participants...though we reserve the right to deliver detailed accounts of the ascent to anyone who will listen. Truth be told, the real motivation for this journey is to raise funds for a very worthwhile charity. Francis House is a local children's hospice based in Manchester.
