Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. This month I will be running the Swavesey half marathon, 13 miles! I've signed up with the Volunteer Service Overseas programme and this is the first stage of my fundraising for the organisation. I would be immensely appreciative of any donations no matter how big or small!
The Volunteer Service Overseas has sent thousands of people abroad to help fight poverty and make a positive difference around the world. This is done through the international citezenship service that's endorsed by the goverment and gives 18-25 year olds the opportunity to volunteer for 3 months. After applying and attending an assessment day the VSO have accepted me onto the scheme and will be sending me to Lindi in Tanzania on a scheme to improve education and employment for young people. All volunteers are set a fundraising goal to reach before departure; this does not directly pay for my individual trip but is instead used to support the VSO and ICS programmes so they can continue to send volunteers overseas.
If you'd like to know more about the organisations have a look at the VSO http://www.vso.org.uk/ and ICS http://www.volunteerics.org/ websites. Please feel free to ask me any questions if you want to know more or if you might be interested yourself!
