Fundraising for Action for Stammering Children
Story
Action for Stammering Children (ASC) is a UK charity which aims to ensure that every child and young person across the UK who stammers has access to effective services and support to help them meet the challenges they face. Latest research suggests that up to 8% of children will stammer at some point, and approximately 1% continue to stammer into adulthood. In the UK that means that 1.5 million children will experience stammering as they are growing up. Since it was founded 30 years ago ASC has supported 88,000 children and young people who stammer.

Ben's story
As a Speech and Language Therapist who works with people who stammering I have the huge privilege to share the journey of stammering with some amazing people. The journey can be tough, scary and full of challenge. The work that ASC do makes this easier, and leads to a journey in which stammering is OK, less scary and less of a problem to people. I can't under state the importance of this work - it can be literally life saving.
As a Speech and Language Therapist I'm constantly pushing the people I work with to do something scary, step out of their comfort zone and face the fear. It's time I took my own advice and took up a challenge myself. I'm so excited to take part in the Action for Stammering Children 30th Anniversary Strictly Challenge, but completely terrified.
Dean's story
Living with Ben means that stammering is something that get's talked about a lot in house. I don't stammer, nor do I really know anyone who stammers. But, I've been able to see the positive difference that Speech and Language Therapy can make to a person's life, by seeing and hearing about the work that Ben and his colleagues do.
