Nearly 500,000 people have been displaced due to flooding in Sri Lanka over the past week. Homes have been destroyed and families have been separated. Help us bring relief.

Story

We were going to do the walk anyway but Lottie said why not raise some money and awareness to help the 600,000!!!!!!! people who have been left without homes after the massive floods. This includes many friends of ours' and some of the happiest people we have ever been lucky enough to meet.. Sri Lankans are genuinely the most hospitable, smiley and spiritual souls so lets help them out, I know for a fact they would do the same.

I will kick us off with £1000. Please donate the money is to feed and build homes for families who have lost everything.

We will be doing just shy of a marathon every day for the five days before summer solstice and a good dance around the stones where hopefully we will see some of your beautiful people and hopefully the sun rise between the stones as it does on the longest day (summer solstice info; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Summer_solstice)

The stones were transported 150 miles before being erected with very precise joint techniques and this is the only example of it anywhere in the world. ( http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/visit/places/stonehenge/history/significance/  )

The two thirds of the walk is along the Ridgeway. A 6000+ year old drovers path and is said to be the oldest surviving road in the UK. My grandfather used to tell me a lot of stories about driving sheep along the path one man his dog and his sheep. We will of course be bringing our sheep dog Flec follow him here [updates to follow] ( https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100004569196429 ).

Here is more info about The Ridgeway; http://www.ridgewayfriends.org.uk/the-trail/the-ancient-ridgeway/

The second half is a route that has only just reopened as it has been used as MOD firing range for the last few years. I am so happy about this as I have been planning this walk for a long time and the last part was just not feasible until now and it looks incredible, follow the link for more info;  http://greatstonesway.moonfruit.com/walking-the-great-stones-way/4584612198

If anyone wants to join Me, Lottie and Flec for part of the trip or meet us at Stonehenge we would love to have a whole gang but just can't afford the time to organise others. We are leaving at 7am from Ivinghoe Beacon and we will camping every other night to stock up and hose down.

Neither me or Lottie have ever attempted anything like this but we are keen for a challenge and any support for our friends in Sri Lanka will help push us that bit further.
