Beth is fundraising for Rachel's Rainbow Dashers at CCLG

One Million by May · 1 April 2021
I'm going to walk ONE MILLION STEPS! with Rachel's Rainbow Dashers.
Our amazing 6 year old friend Rachel is fighting a battle against Philadelphia Positive Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL), a rare form of Leukaemia, still - two years after diagnosis. And she is bossing it. But the risk of both relapse and lifelong side effects is very real.
Only 2% of money raised for cancer research goes into childhood cancer and it can leave survivors with chronic side effects for life.
Rachel has suffered life threatening side effects including severe mucositis, typhilitis, kidney damage, severe vomiting and diarrhoea, numerous viral and bacterial infections, fungal infection on lungs, shingles, hair loss, proximal myopathy where she lost the ability to walk, severe emotional and behavioural side effects from steroids requiring countless courses of iv antibiotics, anti-virals, iv hydration and iv nutrition. In the first year she also received 37 blood or platelet transfusions, 15 general anaesthetics, had 19 naso-gastric tube placements, 10 CT scans, 9 x-rays, 2 ECGs and the list could go on and on.
This is why we’re raising money for children’s cancer treatment.
