When stroke strikes, part of your brain shuts down. And so does a part of you. Life changes instantly and recovery is tough. But the brain can adapt. Our specialist support, research and campaigning are only possible with the courage and determination of the stroke community.

Story

On 13 September 2015 I am running the Great North Run half-marathon. It is "the greatest" half-marathon in the world; in 2014 it celebrated its millionth finisher since 1981. And on 27 September I race in the Berlin marathon!

I am again fundraising for Stroke Association, of which I am a trustee. Your donation, however much you choose to give, will be very valuable; it will help Stroke Association to continue its important work to conquer stroke through research, prevention and provision of Life After Stroke services for stroke survivors, families and carers.

I have paid for my own entries and all other costs for these races; I have also donated the minimum fundraising target of £350 for the GNR.

Even if you choose not to donate, please do take a few minutes to visit Stroke Association's website to learn more about stroke and mini-strokes ("TIAs") and the work of the Association https://www.stroke.org.uk/

Thank you!
