Story

There is no doubt that I find myself here because of the strange desire or thought that I might be able to run a marathon. I applied for several charity places all of which I had some personal interest in.

I have been lucky enough to be given a place by Brain Tumour Research with the opportunity of raising money for such a good cause. When I was 20, now many years ago!, my mother had a brain tumour.  I don't remember the thought or expectation that she wouldn't survive, I don't think it crossed my mind that she may die. After all 6 years earlier she had recovered from breast cancer. We as a family have been fortunate.  As I continue through my life my mother is still here offering all her love and support.

A good friend of mine sadly died in 2013 of a brain tumour.  He was the strongest person I knew, funny, kind and generous. Successful in so many ways. We miss him.  I know he would have been full of encouragement in the months ahead, urging me on, "just another mile!"

Running is one thing, but I think together we have an opportunity, a chance to heighten awareness and raise money for such a worthy cause, with your support anything is possible!

Thank you for supporting!

Bob.

Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. Just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this disease. We are a leading voice calling for support and action for research into what is called the last battleground against cancer.
