Fight Cancer with Confidence

Barbara's Friends 4th Annual Clips for Cancer · 19 August 2021
Cancer and its treatment changes more than just how a patient feels, it also changes how they look. for some children, the changes to their appearance is as distressing as the physical ailments. Your donations will provide life-saving treatments to local children with cancer. Partner with me to go a step further and build a body-positive community to support young cancer patients, physically and emotionally.
Many people are affected by cancer. Undergoing cancer treatment is a deeply private event. Equally as personal, is the myriad of emotions a person with cancer goes through on their journey to good health. The disease and it's treatment is made more difficult in a society that places emphasis on how we look, especially for young girls. Children with cancer may feel self-conscious about the changes to their body, which is why it's important to come together as a community to show children how to #FightCAncerWithConfidence.
At the age of 23 I became a model. I am personally familiar with the pressure society places on young women to look a certain way. I'm taking the step to shave my head with the intention of showing children how to be proud of their body changes, and to find confidence with their inner beauty and intellect. I hope to change the perception of our society who judges people based on an individual's appearance. A body-positive community will only happen when women (and men) dare to challenge beauty and body standards, and partner to create a space where children and cancer can find confidence.
For the past 26 years, Barbara's Friends has helped over 10,000 local SWFL kids with cancer and blood disorders from infancy to age 30. This year alone more than 25 local children have been told they have cancer. Last year 70 children were diagnosed. The numbers are up. More families need your help. Please support our Shavee's by making a donation and share with our friends and family to make a difference in our community. Cancer doesn't care who, when or were.
