Story

A group of work mates including Ollie's father David, will be running the Manchester 10k this year. Ollie tragically passed away just weeks before his 3rd birthday from a throat infection. Dave and his wife Julie are fundraising for the hospital that did such a wonderful job looking after Ollie. In order to try and raise as much as possible i will also be taking part in the South of England's Tough Mudder Evenet on 8th June 2013. This is a hardcore 12 mile-long obstacle courses designed by the Special Forces and will provide a great challenge, just check out the video on the website to see what lies in wait http://toughmudder.co.uk/

Julie and Dave's story:

"We started this fundraising page in memory of our son, Oliver. He died as a result of an invasive strep A throat infection. He had been in hospital on antibiotics and appeared to be on the mend. But the infection had caused tissue damage behind his tonsil and soft palette, which spread, rupturing a major blood vessel in his throat, in turn leading to catastrophic blood loss. The hospital team did all they could to save him, but devastatingly he passed away. He was just 15 days from reaching his 3rd birthday.

The fantastic effort by all of the doctors, surgeons and nursing staff is the reason we have decided to raise some money for the hospital, in the hope that it may one day help save another childs life.
Oliver was a truly happy boy with the most infectious smile. He was such a caring and loving boy, who was so excitied at the prospect of becoming a big brother in the New Year. We knew he loved us and he knew we loved him; a day didn't go by without us telling each other ' love you all the world'. We know Ollie is in a happy and peaceful place, and are committed to making sure we remain happy and positive as it is all he knew and would have wanted"
