Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. As most of you will know my name is Brandon and I love golf. I recently played a round of golf in my club matchplay with a lovely man named Ian who made me aware of the great work St Teresa's Hospice do and the excellent care they provide as this is a service Ian has used himself. After being moved at hearing about the work they do I wanted to do something to help raise some money for them.

St Teresa's Hospice is an independent charity providing free care and support to the people of South Durham and North Yorkshire. They do this via a range of services to support people with a life-limiting illness, and to support their direct carers, and other family members. They are self funding and rely on donations to run this service.

At first I was unsure how I could help and was just going to make a donation. I then had a brain wave and thought I could help by trying to raise some money by doing something. I decided I will play 72 holes of golf in a day. This will equate to around 20 miles of walking if I hit it straight and somewhere between 280 and 320 swings of a golf club hopefully and I should burn around 3000 calories. This will be physically exerting, extremely tiring and a great test of my fitness. I should start around 5.30am in the morning and will play straight through until around 7.30pm at night, 14 hours of constant exercise. Fortunately I will not be doing this alone, my dad Nigel Husk and friend Glenn Cornwell have decided to do the 72 holes with me and different friends and family will make up the group throughout the day.

So I am kindly asking for some donations to the hospice to help them with their fundraising so they can continue to provide the care and support to people with life-limiting illnesses and their families and carers. Life-limiting illnesses such as cancer are something that has had an effect on almost everyone's life in some way or another so it would be great to know the money can help support people through this. It is also great to give a thank you to everyone at St Teresa's hospice for all the great work they continue to do everyday.
