Story
So at 0700hrs on the 1st July 2012, the gun will go and Claire, Tony and I will be battling our way through a 2.4mile swim, followed by a 112mile bike, and ending in a 26.2mile run. This will be Ironman Austria.
Why I hear you ask????!!!
Well, for those of you who don't know, I lost my Dad to Cancer in June last year.
My Dad (aka Chips) served as a soldier in the Royal Irish Rangers for 25 years and was the fittest and strong minded man i've known.
During his service he won 3 boxing belts at the Army championships and he went on to win the Australian Golden Gloves.
Chips coached on the Army boxing team and then (after he retired) went on to set up his own boxing club - Coventry Irish and later also coached at the Standard Triumph Boxing Club.
I decided to enter an Ironman as I felt that although the event in itself will be tough, the training and prep will be even tougher, with some training weeks totalling more than 20hrs training,
However no matter how hard, or how much we suffer during the Ironman it will never compare to what my Father went through and millions of people are still suffering with everyday and the pain and suffering that people go through after the loss of a loved one.
So dig deep and make it count!!!!!!!
