Brett's Vietnam to Cambodia Cycle page

Vietnam to Cambodia Cycle · 18 February 2015 to 1 March 2015 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
That's it!!! Ive only gone and bledy done it!!! Finished on 27th February!
It certainly was a challenge & over the 8 days cycling I got to meet some absolutely wonderful people. All hit by this disastrous disease in their own way - loved ones currently suffering or tragically where those have past away.
We've all definitely had our ups & downs over this incredible journey but as a team we pulled one another through.
Most of us suffered illness during the trip which wasn't made any easier by the at times 37 degree heat in Cambodia and the rather odd cuisine, chicken heads in soup to mention one such meal.
Now for those that haven't donated, maybe because you never thought I'd make it (I had my doubts) you have until 30th March.
About the Charity and some facts
The Alzheimers Society are dedicated to defeating dementia through research. They fund research into the cause, cure, care and prevention of dementia including Alzheimers disease.
There are currently 800,000 people with dementia in the UK. There are over 17,000 younger people with Dementia in the UK. There will be over a million sufferers by 2021. Two thirds of people with dementia are women. 60,000 deaths a year are directly attributable to dementia. Delaying the onset of dementia by five years would reduce deaths by 30,000 a year.
The Challenge
I will be cycling some 540 km through Vietnam and Cambodia on a mix of tarmac roads and dirt tracks through small settlements and thick forest in heats of up to 35C with the potential of tropical thunder storms. I've not got a clue how firstly my butt will survive or I will for two weeks with no cake or my beloved pasties.
