Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit Brian’s JustGiving page.

Dad first became aware of the charity after reading about ‘Dr Jack Preger’ a British doctor who has been offering medical treatment as well as vocational training to the poor in the Indian city of Kolkata and in other parts of West Bengal since 1972. At the grand age of 90, Dr Jack still dedicates his time to treating the poor.

Dad visited Calcutta and volunteered with the charity twice, meeting and speaking with Dr Jack, also spending time fundraising.

About the charity

Calcutta Rescue works to make life better for people living in the slums and on the streets of Kolkata. We provide free medical care for poor people, free education for their children, and skills training to help them to become self-reliant.
