Three years ago I met a wonderful lady called Florence through a befriending charity, The Friendship Network. 

Florence was wheelchair-bound through severe arthritis but had more energy, positivity and zest for life than many people half her age. We would go shopping, to tea parties or would just sit in her kitchen and chat (and occasionally watch Judge Judy - she doesn't take any nonsense, and neither did Florence). 

Florence passed away in January of this year. In her memory, I'd like to raise money for The Friendship Network by running the Hackney half marathon. 

The Friendship Network does amazing work by connecting older people, who might otherwise be isolated or lonely, with people who can visit and call them on a regular basis.
