Right now, 3,000 working animals in the Ilam district of Nepal are suffering. Overloaded with cans of milk and other goods, they’re struggling to walk up steep and dangerous paths to make deliveries.

The animals are mostly small ponies, many of whom are sick and weak. But because their owners rely on them for their income, they can’t stop work. And as there are few veterinary technicians in the area, there’s nobody to treat them.

• Provide healthcare to working animals, and make sure it can be sustained through local service centres.
• Establish a close link between local veterinary technicians and owners, so they can share knowledge and work closely together to benefit the animals.
• Train local veterinary technicians so they can give the animals the best quality care possible.
