Story
As many of you know, in September 2013 I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia at the age of 17. My whole world was crushed and I could not see a way through this life threatening illness. However, with thanks to the charity Cure Leukaemia I entered a trial, UKALL2011. This meant I was going to be given drugs differently to how the UK normally does and more like Europe. Simply given my drugs in strong short blasts, rather than spread out over a longer period. Throughout this trial I was also randomised in which drugs I would receive. Cure Leukaemia provided me with these drugs, but not only that they gave me support. By being apart of Cure Leukaemia I was given drive to get better and be where I am today where I can support other patients like me and help to eventually lead to a cure for blood cancer!
I am living proof that this charity can really help to achieve a cure and support many blood cancer patients. I am currently a student nurse at the University Of Worcester, hoping one day I can give life saving treatment to others.
So I am running the Birmingham half marathon on the 16th October 2016 and hoping to raise as much money as possible for an incredible charity. I am running as part of team Haem which is made up of nurses, doctors, lab technicians and patients from Worcester Acute NHS Trust. If could could spare any money to help support me in my run for a great charity we would be so grateful. Thank you!!
