We pioneer life-saving cancer research to help us beat cancer

Story

The Broughton Boys are James Turner, Pete McAllister, John Hendy, Tim & Jon Jenner, Angus Robson, Paul McDonald, Anthony Biddulph, Brian Keane, Michael Barrett, Caspar Ingrams, Shaun Beale and Roy French.

After the successes of our previous fundraising activities, your amazing generosity and the fun had by many dressing up, hosting a ball and rattling tins far and wide we wanted to do something for CR this year after cancer affected some of us personally.

The boys are still unfit, still drink too much and will suffer with sore butts throughout this ride.  However, the boys always learn something on these fundraising adventures; the bravery of those who fight cancer, the strength of the families affected, the dedication of those who care for our loved ones and research routes to its eventual demise are all an inspiration.

We set off on June 24 to tour the Western Front.  Our Tactical Itinerary Taskmaster of the day will engage us with stories of heroism from the war and regale us with facts to try and distract us from the fact we can't walk or sit down.  We will sleep like babies each night and then howl like hell the next morning when getting back on the bike...

If you ever considered getting shares in Vasoline... now might be a good time.

Our rough itinerary (rough because we will probably get lost and end up sleeping in a field somewhere at least once) is as follows:

Day 1 - Lille to Ypres

Day 2 - Ypres to Arras

Day 3 - Arras to Amiens

Day 4 - Amiens to St Quentin

Day 5 - St Quentin to Mons

Day 6 - Mons to Lille
