We fund additional respite care in Oxon to children with life-limiting illness

Story

ROSY helps the families of children in Oxfordshire with severe disability, chronic or terminal illness.  They help by funding:

Respite nursing care at home for children, by respite nurses and health care assistants.

Equipment to improve the quality of life for families who are looking after a disabled or sick child.

A counselling service for families affected by having a child with a severe disability or illness.

ROSY relies entirely on the goodwill and generosity of the public for their funding.

On Saturday the 23rd of April a group from Oxfordshire Children's Community Nursing (CCN) Team and colleagues from Oxford Health will be taking part in the annual ROSY walk of 26 miles through the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside.

The CCN team is part of the group of nurses and health care assistants that provide essential respite care at home for children across Oxfordshire. They are taking time out of their weekend to walk over a marathon in support of this very important charity.

One of our team explains why:

“Working as a children’s respite nurse for ROSY encompasses and enables staff to give compassionate, holistic and child and family focused care. This type of care is so important to be able to give to children and their families and enables health care professionals to walk alongside them in their journey. It’s an absolute privilege to be invited to care for children and families this way in their own homes.

At present ROSY is able to fund 3 full time and 7 part time respite nurses in addition to the other services it provides to the families in Oxfordshire. The total running costs are £250k per annum.

To help continue providing this support please donate today (and ticking the gift aid box).
