CL APAC is looking to host a multi-office charity fundraising event to raise proceeds for Children of the Mekong.

The Goal:

  • We are targeting to raise donations amounting to £7,500 across all CL offices for this year. Upon meeting the fundraising target, CL will match the same donation amount as a firm, bringing donations up to £15,000 collectively
  • Proceeds will be used to sponsor 2 grades of children at an education center in Samrong, Cambodia (grade 9 and 10), with the ultimate goal to support them until grade 12.
  • Please view the photos on our page, which gives a glimpse into what and who we will be sponsoring. For additional details please contact either mclean@campbell-lutyens.com or loh@campbell-lutyens.com, where we can share latest updates at the center along with additional details on the sponsorship.
  • Through this partnership, we will be able to send letters, interact, and eventually get to know the children on a personal level as we sponsor them through their final grades in high school
The Events

Part 1 – Beach Shirt Day (18th Nov)

  • This event is meant to be inclusive across all 3 Asia offices – Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan
  • Attendees who participate will receive a pineapple-themed “Hawaiian beach shirt”, and wear them for fun during a Asia-wide Zoom call
  • We have invited Eugenie, COO of our partnered charity, as a speaker to give a small talk on the organisation and the potential impacts of our donation efforts (the Zoom event will be recorded and shared with everyone afterwards)

Part 2 – Morning Hike (19th Nov)

  • This event will be held in-person in Singapore and Hong Kong respectively
  • Attendees will embark on a fun morning hike and have a get-together lunch to close out the charity event
  • Singapore: MBS Walkathon (distance of c. 8km)
  • Hong Kong: TBD

The Charity We are Working With

  • We decided to work together with Children of the Mekong (“COM”), a charity dedicated to supporting impoverished children in the Mekong region (Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam) to access education, improve their lives and find employment, as we found their cause to be very meaningful and resonated with their mission.
  • We also wanted to choose an organisation that is somewhat pan-Asian, so that we could get the support of all offices in Asia.
  • Headquartered in France, COM has a long history of doing charity work in Asia since 1964 and has built a strong network of more than 900 volunteers to date, sponsoring over 20k children and supporting up to 70k children.
  • They have been awarded the IDEAS label which recognises their strong governance, financial management and efficiency of their programs.
  • They are also partnered up with more than 60 established organisations including the likes of BNP Paribas, Credit Agricole, Amundi, etc. For more background on COM and their program, kindly see attached the introductory deck provided by them.
