Story

So, like many good things that end, our days as host to Lady Baa Baa are numbered...

And with art mimicking real life, she has to go back to The Calvert Trust to go to auction in October, where she will help provide vital funding to go towards the £1.3 million redevelopment of Old Windebrowe at Keswick, the trust’s 16th-century Grade II-listed farmhouse and tithe barn.

We have started a 'Save Lady Baa Baa' fund and staff, owners and friends of Elterwater Hostel are hoping to raise enough to win her back, and return her to here rightful, permanent home at the Hostel, where she has been welcoming guests since she was installed in March.

We've set up this JustGiving page, with funding going direct to the Calvert Trust, and in return they have agreed to discount the total raised here from any payment due when we bid for her at auction.

If we fail to win Lady Baa Baa at the auction from the money we've raised, the Calvert Trust gets to keep the money anyway, but it would be great if we were successful!!

About the charity

The Lake District Calvert Trust provides residential outdoor activity courses for people of all ages with physical, sensory, learning, behavioural and/or mental disabilities. Its mission is to challenge disability through outdoor adventure. Pioneering equipment adaptations, and intensive, instructor-led activity programmes (that include climbing, abseiling, canoeing, sailing, horse/trap driving, archery, orienteering and paragliding), provide an environment whose aims are to teach, challenge, motivate, engender confidence in ability, promote independence, and foster integration. All instructors are highly trained and specialist qualified, and the facilities are specially adapted and fully accessible to all. The Lake District Calvert Trust provides a unique and life-changing experience for those with disabilities, who are encouraged to believe that it’s what you CAN do that counts.
