Story

I am over the moon to confirm that I managed to complete the London Marathon on Sunday 22nd April in my best time of 4hrs 10mins, something I was certainly not expecting but extremely proud of. A massive thank you to all those who have donated to the Lyla Nsouli Foundation. My page will stay open for an extra 3 months for any further donations.

So I took to the streets on 22 April 2012 and ran my fourth (and last) London Marathon after saying I would NEVER run it again? Please read on and I will tell you why .....

Lyla Nsouli was the beautiful daughter of one of the guys I work for. She was diagnosed, on August 13, 2011, at the age of two years and eight months with an inoperable, incurable form of brain cancer called Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). She was given months to live.

Lyla lost her fight with DIPG on 24th January 2012.

After what happened to Lyla, her parents were compelled to do all they could to try and prevent this disease from destroying children's lives (and their families) so violently, and to try and improve the prognosis for these children and eventually find a cure so they set up the Lyla Nsouli Foundation for Children's Brain Cancer.

I have never had more of an incentive to get myself fit and ready to run this event, particularly knowing that I am raising money for a charity so close to my heart. Please read Lyla's story and sponsor me so we can make a difference to those people's lives that are affected by this terrible cancer.

About the charity

On August 13 2011, two year old Lyla Nsouli was diagnosed with a terrible form of brain cancer called Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). She passed away only 5 months later. Lyla's family set up this foundation in her honour to fund research into treatment and, eventually, a cure for DIPG.
