Story
Last April I signed up for the 2017 Brighton Marathon - so long ago that I can't remember why I thought this was a good idea. At the time I wasn't planning on raising money for charity; thinking this was just running and running is my thing. Well I was wrong on both counts. Firstly, training for a marathon is hard. Very hard. And so many of you have been kind enough to offer donations that I have been persuaded to raise money for one of the Fidelity Kingswood Fields chosen charities - Combat Stress. A cause particularly close to my heart as I try and raise awareness of mental health issues through the Fidelity for Everyone network.
Combat Stress is the UK's leading veterans' mental health charity, treating a range of mental health conditions including PTSD, depression and anxiety.
Mental health issues can affect ex-servicemen and women of all ages. Right now, they have more than 6,000 veterans registered with them for support. They are a vital lifeline for these veterans and their families.
The vision of Combat Stress is that veterans will be able to live free from the harmful effects of psychological injuries by providing timely, effective clinical treatment and support.
