Anyone who knows me, knows I hate running, which goes to show how important this cause is to me. I am putting myself through my own personal hell and running a half marathon to raise money for Alzheimer's Society.

Having seen my grandma suffer from Alzheimer's disease for over 2 years, I know it's a horrendous disease that doesn't just impact the individual, everyone is affected. All the person's loved ones suffer with them. You have to watch someone who you've probably known all your life change over the months and years, and forget more and more memories you made with them. It's heart breaking and made all the worse knowing there's nothing you can do to stop it. Alzheimer's causes such a huge amount of stress  and watching my mum and aunt go through this over 2 years made me realise how heart wrenching the disease is. 

Throughout my grandma's illness, my grandad became her carer, my mum made an 8 hour round trip at every opportunity and my aunt, uncle, and cousins, who fortunately were close by, helped with any everyday tasks needed. There was a huge amount of much needed support from friends and family of my grandparents as well as their local church. And also the friends and family of my mum and my aunt. The amount of dedication, love and selflessness needed to help someone with Alzheimer's is unending but that's what people gave to my grandma. 

This is why I want to raise money for Alzheimer's Society. To fund support, help, and advice to anyone that's affected by this cruel disease and to help find a cure some day. I wouldn't want what my grandma, my family, and I went through to happen to anyone else, but it does, all the time. So please donate to my page to help support an incredibly worthwhile cause. I can't promise I'll be fast but I can promise I'll finish.
