Story

7th June - it is with a heavy heart and a great deal of distress that I have to say that sadly I am not able, after all the training, to undertake my challenge.  On the 20th May i had an accident on a training session.  Although initially I thought I was okay i ended up in A&E with a suspected fracture to my right arm (being right handed really helps!). I was put in a cast and told to return to hospital on the 4th June.  I kept my fingers crossed (on my left hand) that it was just a strain but it appears that i have displaced the scaphoid bone in the hand.  Back in plaster for potentially eight weeks. No riding a bike or driving a car.  Thank you those of you who have sponsored me but I cannot take your money and cheques are being issued to you to reimburse you.  All is not lost though - in the words of Arnie - I will be back!  hope to do the ride next year, so keep your eyes out!

Thanks and much love xxxx

4th May - Been on a mission this week to drag myself up to the bigger mile stakes - have so far done a 60, 20, 40 and 34 miler since Saturday - tomorrow is going to be another day of pumping my pedals round.  Time is ticking on and i am still not 100% ready but getting there!  as a friend of mine told me "41 days is a long time to get fit in" so i am feeling better about not being quite there!  Off to make a curry - see ya x

25th - well after taking a day off yesterday to go drive diggers, and dumpsters (how much fun can a girl have!) back on the road again today. 36 miles or so including getting a bit lost but those are the best rides!!!!  Went from home to Lymington, Beaulieu, Lyndhurst and to Burley where i met up with Graham and the boys, then a walk for about 2 miles (sure Graham got us lost!) and then home for pizza - Graham is cooking!!!!  Feeling more confident now - had a "wobble" this morning!!  Think it was watching the marathon!

20th - just a 30 miler today, but in just under two hours so happy with that.  This weather helps though!  bike seems to be behaving - bet it falls apart now!!!!  tomorrow is another day and hopefully a biggie!  think i need to start hitting the 60 mile mark!  53 days to go!!!!!  eeekkk!

18th April 2010. Wow completed a 49 miler today and have not stopped smiling - can still walk and cant wait to get back on my now mended bike! Roll on tuesday!  another session to be completed.  The beginning of some serious and hard training - may this weather continue!!!

13th April 2010.  Well that went well - 6 miles in to a 40 mile session and my pedal fell off, the bit that goes in the crank has worn away so much that there was no thread for it to stay in - bummer.  And typically my hubby was about 40 miles away so i walked home in cycling shoes, greasy hands and a major hump on!

Bike has gone to the bike doctor and I am faced with training on my work bike which weighs a ton!  Oh well should give me a work out!!!

03/04/2010  Well here i am training going well(ish) must do more tho!  been on a 20 miler today and hoping to go out again tomorrow for another session - would help if i felt better - this sick/cold bug thing is just not going away!  oh well kill or cure I say.

Have been going through my list of things to take and have cut my luggage down quite a bit - working on the assumption that i can do SOME washing whilst away - otherwise gonna have to take the wardrobe!  Anyhow = thanks to you who have already sponsored me and thanks to you who are looking and thinking about it - go on you know you want to! pretty please!!!

Some time last week!!!

Well here I go again!  Another mad bike ride!  This time Lands End to John O'Groats - 1000 miles of hills - all those ups and downs (and i suspect more ups than downs)!  What fun - although most of you will probably say I am mad - maybe you are right but hey what an achievement!!!This time I am making this more personal - as you know Julian attends Beacroft Foundation School in Wimborne.  Thanks to this great school and great teachers Julian is getting the education that he needs - without them our life would have been very very different.

The school's ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder) department is in need of a new playground.  With your help i would like to raise some money to enable them to start if not complete the work required.  Currently the playground is tarmac and dirt.

Please help me to raise as much as i can to go to the school, your help means so very much to me and hopefully once i have finished this epic ride i will have raised enough to help the school to achieve this goal.
