On Friday 5th April I'll be giving up my comfy, warm bed to spend the night sleeping outdoors under the stars to raise much needed funds for Battersea Dogs and Cats home. Stray Over 2019 London will be taking place at Battersea's London animal rescue centre and I'll be bedding down on a piece of cardboard and be covered by a large plastic bag. At 5.30am one of Battersea's dogs will be round to deliver a very welcome wake-up call.

I'm doing this because at Battersea we firmly believe that no animal deserves to be kicked out
onto the streets and that they all deserve care, respect and a loving home.

We help over 7,000 animals a year, but for every dog we currently rehome there is another we can't help. All donations will help us rescue more cats and dogs and find them a loving home.

Who we are and what we do:

Established in 1860, Battersea aims never to turn away a dog or cat in need of our help, caring for them until their owners or loving new homes can be found, no matter how long it takes. We are champions for, and supporters of, vulnerable dogs and cats, determined to create lasting changes for animals in our society.

Since it was founded, Battersea has rescued, reunited and rehomed over 3.1 million dogs and cats and in 2017 Battersea cared for over 7000 dogs and cats.  There is no time limit on how long an animal can stay at the charity but the average stay for a dog is 38 days and 22 days for a cat. We need funds to continue to care and rehome thousands of animals that need us.
