Atlantic Ocean - West to East Sailing Attempt Spring 2017 · 16 February 2017

The UK's leading charity for veterans' mental health. For over a century, we've helped former servicemen and women deal with issues like trauma, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. Today, we provide support to veterans from every service and every conflict.

Story

As part of Team Hallin we set a target of raising £60,000 for our adopted charity 'Combat Stress' in 2009.  Since then Team Hallin have rowed the Atlantic Ocean twice, sailed it once from East to West, raced in the Round GB Rowing Race 2013 and have walked 1,000 kms in 4 weeks. Despite fantastic support from friends and family during all these fundraising events we are nevertheless still a little short of our initial fundraising goal.

So this Spring my son Edmund and I set off in a Westerly 33 ketch named 'Celtic Dawn' from Jolly Harbour in Antigua hoping to make it to Poole in UK.  We arrived in Flores Azores after a 20 day passage and David will depart for the UK on Sunday 28 May. Do follow our route and see our 6 hourly satellite tracking updates by visiting our blog site at:

Please also show your support for this short-handed sailing adventure by giving a few pounds to 'Combat Stress' and help us at Team Hallin finally make that £60k target.

Many thanks indeed for your anticipated and continued support

Warmest regards from - David & Edmund Hosking.
