ELECTRICITY UPGRADE APPEAL ⚡️
Are you an animal lover? Appreciate what we do at Greenacres? Have we ever helped you? Or is the animal you love adopted from us? If so, please read on.....
Throughout our time at Greenacres we have written many appeals, requests, and pleas and many of these are centred around a particular animal or need, with emotive pictures visually bending our supporters to donate, but although this appeal may not carry the normal substance or pull on your heart strings with distressing imagery never has there been a more needy appeal, one that really is vital in the continued function of our work. In the not-too-distant future, we must address an issue that has plagued Greenacres for some time and finally this winter left us exhausted by a troublesome season, as with most UK establishments our energy demand increases in the winter, shorter days and colder nights ensures our need for electricity use skyrockets.
Electricity is something many of us take for granted but believe us it is soon apparent how much it is needed when the supply is unreliable and on occasions gone altogether! The site in which Greenacres operates currently has a standard, domestic supply not dissimilar to that of a regular household, but as you can imagine with over 150 animals in our care at any one time, the need for adequate lighting and heating to keep everyone well cared for is proving a little too taxing for this current system and this winter has been a tremendous struggle to get through each day without having electrical issues hindering our work, at its worst we had to isolate parts of the circuit to allow others to work more effectively.
We are extremely lucky we have a kind and helpful voluntary electrician that is willing to help solve these issues but on professional recommendation it has been advised that we upgrade our system to a three-phase electricity supply, and for this we would have to make a request to Western Power Distribution. Having contacted WPD they have confirmed that they can bring a three-phase electricity supply to the site, but it comes at the cost of £9369.00. The past year has been simply awful for us, with no shops or fundraising events we have relied solely on the generosity of our supporters to survive but sadly we cannot leave this issue unattended until more affluent times.
It is for that reason we ask again that you help us achieve this goal, without this upgrade it will be impossible to continue, and we must pursue our rescue mission. If you can please even spare just a few pounds it will bring us closer to our goal, the costs of the on-site changes will be kept to a minimum thanks to our kind electrician, so we need only to raise the funds to bring the supply on site. If you can find it in your heart to help this appeal it will make an extraordinary difference.
