Story
The COVID-19 outbreak is having a huge effect on everyone and we're experiencing deeply challenging times at the moment.
Mental health awareness was already on the rise but we feel it is now more important than ever to address it.
- Think about the people who have sadly lost someone they love.
- Think about the people who are suffering domestic abuse.
- Think about the additional strain on many key workers, including NHS staff along with countless others.
- Think about the lack of job security for many people, due to the economic uncertainty and business cash flow problems.
- Think about the negative mental effects as a result of self-isolation itself.
Depression... anxiety... stress... loneliness... grief... feeling trapped... These emotions are all going to be heightened right now and it is crucial that people have someone to talk to if anything becomes too much.
Whether you're a parent or a child... whether you live with others or live alone... it is an extremely tough time for us all. Please, if you can, help us to help others.
1 in 4 people in the UK will experience a mental health problem. Mental illness is tough at the best of times but right now, people are under more pressure than ever.
Many are in pain; some are in danger. Your generosity can help people find the light at the end of the tunnel. It can help to put a stop to people suffering in silence.
Between five brothers - Lewis (27), Callum (25), Kyle (23), Liam (19) and Declan (13), we are going to run 19 Marathons in May for MIND.
That's a whopping 498 miles (or 802 km) meaning we need to achieve a daily average of 16.06 miles (or 25.87 km). To be honest we have all second guessed whether this is physically possible. Three of us have only just started running and it's safe to say that not one of us has ever attempted to run a month solid! We're all going to play our part and it's going to be a huge collective struggle but competitiveness runs in our blood and we are up for the challenge.
It's going to require plenty of strength, endurance, courage, determination, commitment and teamwork. At the end of the day it's going to be a case of MIND over matter.
Captain Tom's amazing feat along with Tyson Fury's impressive comeback are two of our main inspirations in doing this. They both proved you can accomplish great things with the help of a strong MIND.
Using our one exercise a day and following strict social distancing guidelines we hope to achieve our goal and raise money for this incredible charity to support the amazing work that they do.
